She really didn’t explain much about Acceleration, but here is the question:

The space shuttle takes 8 min between blastoff and reaching its orbit. During this time, it accelerates at 16m/s ( squared ). Express 8 min in seconds. How Fast, in kilometers per second, is the shuttle going when it reaches orbit?

okay to start you convert 8 min to sec.

8 min 60 sec
——— x —————- = 480 sec
1 1 min

you’re trying to find the final velocity so the formula is

Vf = Vi(t) + (1/2)a(t)^2

Vf = ?
Vi = 0 m/s
a = 16 m/s/s or m/s^2
t = 480 sec

plug it in and solve.

i just bought the collectors set of devil may cry and i noticed that the first game was really good and dante had a serious attitude

then in the second one he still has a somewhat serious attitude but the game really sucked cause the lack of techniques and abilities

now when i played the third one i gota say its the best one with all sorts of different moves and combos but the writers were really corny like when you do a combo it says dope or blast and dante is way to cocky with his trash talking like that scene where he talks to cerberus and when he does a attack he says blastoff! or breakdown and i found it to be really anoying to the point where i gota mute the tv

it seems dantes personality changes alot through out these three games
any one else feel the same way about the trilogy?

Dante has more of an attitude in the third installment because it’s actually the first in the series time line. You could say he’s full of piss and vinegar.

Devil May Cry 2 would be next in the time line and the first game comes last where he’s more mature.

It should be noted that DMC2 was not made by the same people as the incredibly awesome first game. After that game flopped, Capcom in it’s infinite wisdom had the original team put back on for the 3rd game.

The height of a rocket, h(t) meters, as a function of time, t seconds, since blastoff, is given by the function

h(t)= -4t square+16t+1.2

a) What was the height of the rocket at blast off?

d)How many seconds did it take for the rocket to hit the ground(to the nearest second)??

h(t)= -4t ^2+16t+1.2

(a) The only constant term in the equation is 1.2. So the initial height is 1.2 m

(b) maximum height is reached when derivative of height is 0.

h’(t) = -8t + 16 = 0
t = 2

So max height is h(2) = -4(2)(2) +16(2) +1.2 = -16 +32 +1.2 = 17.2 m

(c) we already calculated this one in part (b). At t=2 sec, rocket reaches its max height.

(d) now the rocket comes back due to gravity. So the time to reach ground for the rocket will be given by s = ut + 0.5at^2
17.2 = 0 + 0.5(9.8)(t^2)
t^2 = 17.2 * 2 /9.8 = 3.51
t = 1.87 sec

So total time = 1.87 +2 = 3.87 sec


There is a very short "window" of opportunity to blast off, because they must do it when the earth is pointed in the trajectory they want the space craft to fly in. (the earth rotates)
They could blast off at any time but do not have enough capacity to store fuel to then change trajectory and get back on course.
